I’ve always liked racing, and have done different forms of motorsport in the past. After looking around for something new to do, I decided that I would go racing again.  It would have to be something electric and as electric leads itself very nicely for drag racing, well, here we are…

How i got it

I am in the process of building Australia’s first Electric Dragster with the goal of having fun and not electrocuting myself or my friends in the process.  I have an engineering background with 20+ years experience in high speed manufacturing. With this knowledge and a lot of research I choose a 190 inch long dragster with its own trailer, because something this long won’t fit on a standard transporter.

The motors are custom made by Kostov for the dragster.  They are 11 inch DC.  The motors have been built to withstand 350 volts and as many amps as I can find and feed to them……not quite but it sounds good

The battery

At the start I am planning to use lead acid PC 680 Odyssey batteries in four strings of 144 volts to see where this gets me.
